Title: Bojack Horseman
Post by: Jade on September 01, 2014, 11:43:35 am
Anybody watched this yet? I just watched the first 2 episodes tonight and am planning on watching the rest over the next few days. I've been a huge Will Arnett fan since Arrested Development first came out and Aaron Paul forever holds a special place in my heart no matter what he does, so I'm already hugely biased towards liking this show :P

Honestly though it's about what I expected it to be like, not amazing by a long shot, but good entertainment that seems like it'll get better with time. It reminds me a lot of Bob's Burgers only not as clever, which I'm saying as a huge compliment because Bob's Burgers is my favourite animated show and has been for the past 2 or 3 years (I can't remember how early I watched it tbh).

Has anyone else seen Bojack Horseman though? Thoughts? Opinions? Musings? Comments?

I am literally watching it as i read this. I like it. I didnt know that Bojack Horseman was played by him, thats cool. I know aaron paul was in it, and I like Aaron's voice its actually good for Cartoon shows. I like the show, its not bad. I love how animals and people live together and the animals actually have hands and feet lol. The comedy and the satirical references to society and the right amount of cut aways reminds me of a family guy/simpsons/south park hybrid. I like Bojack's character the most. Its just how the sitcom stars from the 90s are now, no one gives two shits about them. I also like Mr. Peanut Butter, he just cannot see how much Bojack hates him but he thinks good of him. I already watched 5 episodes, and i might binge watch on my day off.

That hybrid description is actually pretty damn good. I prefer the cutaways in this to those in Family Guy because these aren't just used for the sake of an extra joke, you know? I think that's one of my favourite things about this show so far - it doesn't feel forced. Plus I just realised the army seal who hated Bojack because of the muffins was voiced by Gene's voice actor from Bob's Burgers and I've heard that Kristen Schaal is a guest in it at some point so I'm sold even more. I'm definitely going to follow suit and binge on it too haha.

I haven't... but Amanda will likely get into it with Arnett involved.  I own a copy of "Let's All Go to Prison" and she'd never watched that before, she and I sat and gave it the once-through... then she watched it on repeat for like 4 days anytime she'd take the young lady for a nap. lol

Aha Amanda's a fellow Arnett fangirl huh? Your wife has amazing taste if I haven't said so already :P

I love Let's Go to Prison, Dax Shepard and Will Arnett are such a great duo. And the fact it's directed by Bob Odenkirk just makes it all the better, gotta love Saul after all ;)

Well, yeah... I mean she DID pick me!

It's probably in how I picked her up... I was all like "You like Ducks?  Soft... little... baby Ducks?" and she's an animal rights person so she was like "Yes?" and I was like "Eskimo Kisses.... Essskimoooooo!"

Him as Gob, for me, was the main thing that kept Arrested Development so good. As well as Jeffrey Tambor as George Bluth Sr. Those two were so amazing in it from start to finish :)

Ok so at first I read "picked up" as in the literal meaning and got a really confusing image in my head of you doing that to a stranger while just holding her in the air :')

Animal rights too? Yep, she gets cooler every time you mention her haha

Actually I was always about as forward with women as most might expect.  I coined some choice pick up lines... but with Amanda I was so nervous I just watched her for like 3 months (she lived in an apartment above a shop I had... so she was around daily I wasn't creepy just gawky lol) and one day one of my coworkers threatened to beat me with an asp baton if I didn't go at Least say "Hi"... so I did... we have been together ever since... less an instance where some skank messaged me some gnarly messages and Amanda thought I was cheating.  I wasn't but we've cleared that up since lol.

That's a much cuter story than if it started off with a chat up line tbh :P I've never been a fan of guys coming up to me in bars and using the cheesiest lines, I don't think it's ever worked haha. I admire the guts it takes to come up to a girl with the "Did it hurt when you fell from heaven" or "If I could rearrange the alphabet I'd put U and I together" I guess thogh ;)

Off topic buuuut 200th post! Woop!

I watched the first episode last night. It was okay. I hadn't seen anything other than the promo shot of Bojack and Todd though, so I was a little surprised at all the animal people.

Funny actually I took a break from it and ended up finishing it yesterday lol. I really liked it as a whole - it took til like episode 3 or 4 for me to really get into it and start laughing at most parts, and I was really surprised with the direction they went with the last half of the series. Very refreshing feeling to this show :)
