“Where does the Underdog go when he has reached the top of the mountain?” -Alex Anders

The WWG Live access show has resumed play. Back from commercial, Alex Almon sits with Chris Arenas to discuss the happenings of Shockwave, just a few nights ago.

Almon: It was Johnny Weissmuller of 'Tarzan' fame that came up with the quote, “with but few exceptions, it is always the underdog who wins through sheer willpower.” Such a case was made when Alex Anders defied all odds, and all the non-believers when he pinned Nick Savage to become the World Wrestling Generation's first Absolute Champion a few nights ago at Shockwave. In this exclusive interview, I got to speak with the emotional champion about his history making achievement moments after it happens.

The camera cuts away to Anders and Almon sitting in the interview room together, Anders clutching the Absolute title.

Almon: Alex Anders, the first Absolute champion, how are you feeling after a hard fought victory against Nick Savage, a man who threatened to end your career?

Anders: It was definitely hard fought... I could never have imagined that I'd have scored the one, two, three on someone as competitive as Savage. He was right, he was going to make it hard for me, but case and point, the underdog finds a way to come out on top in the end.

Almon: That leads to my next question, Alex. With your victory tonight, and claiming the Absolute title, wouldn't you think that you could drop the Forever Underdog moniker?

Anders: You know Alex, I thought about that as I was walking to the back... Where does the Underdog go when he has reached the top of the mountain? And I realized that I'm still the Forever Underdog, no matter where I am on the card... No matter what title I hold, no matter who I'm facing... I am the underdog every time I compete. It's hard to admit that when I'm technically still supposed to be looking down... But I have challengers forming left and right... Mike Maddox wants to step up and take me on, Demartinos tried to physically assault his opponent after his match a few minutes ago to send me a message... Thankfully, I saw what was going on and saved Zoe from a severe beat down. The target is firmly planted around my waist now... I'm still the underdog in all those match ups.

Almon: It seems your underdog status won't be compromised in one week's time either... I just received word from Fredrick Kavanagh that the main event of WWG Carnage this week will be a non-title Champion vs Champion match between you and Miseria. Any thoughts on that blockbuster match, before we conclude.

Anders: Wow... My first main event on WWG is against the new World Heavyweight Champion, Miseria. I can't say that I'm surprised... The only step up for me is the World Champion, and the draw of the number one guy versus the number two guy is appealing in more ways that one. Almon, I am the underdog... The Forever Underdog to be exact, but it hasn't stopped me yet. I am fighting for my livelihood each and every night. I dedicated my match at Shockwave to the only Absolute in the WWG, the fans, and tonight I do the same. I fight for the fans... I fight for the weird kids, and the nerds, and for every person that has ever been given a humiliating nickname, or called every horrible name in the book. I fight for them, because I was once one of those kids and now I stand at the pinnacle... I'm in the main event fighting the World Champion of the World Wrestling Generation... Tonight is the night that I make a believer out of Miseria... Just like with Vrakas... And Bey... And Nick Savage... I will make a believer out of them, and Miseria, if you want to prove me differently, I want to see you try to take the fight out of the Forever Underdog.

Almon: Thank you for your time Anders, and good luck next week.

The Holophonics' rendition of Applause blasts through the PA system as the crowd rises to their feet. Anders rushes from behind the curtain, carrying the Absolute title around his waist. He stops at the top of the entrance ramps, and points to all the fans, taking in the moment. Anders walks down the aisle, high-fives all around to the fans at ringside. He slides in the ring, takes the microphone from the announcer, and the music begins to die off.

Anders: Ladies and gentlemen of Daytona Beach, Florida!!!! I hope everyone enjoyed their Pi-Day a couple of weeks ago... I decided to celebrate it a few days late... I gave Nick Savage... Sadistic... Whatever his name is this week... the Pi-R-Squared live in front of the nation on Shockwave to start my Pi-Day celebration! On to more important matters, tonight, in your main event of the evening, you will see the brand new Absolute Champion defend his gold against the equally new World Heavyweight Champion. Before we get to that match, I want to tell everyone a story. Once upon a time, there was a kid who was bullied in school. He was picked on for being a wrestling fan... He was picked on for loving theatre... He worked hard, trained hard, studied with both his mind and his body... And he kept winning... He won competitions in school... He won scholarships from many a university... And just recently... He won the Absolute title... Becoming the first in the company's history... He couldn't have done it without his fans... His gracious Nerd Herd stood by his side, and even gave him the assist by helping him body splash his opponent... Coolest, moment, ever, am I right? And tonight, he plans on doing the same thing... The Forever Underdog continues to look up, and Miseria... Tonight we do what we do best, and put on the match of the night, nay!!! Match of the year... And we do it... For the fans... Believe in the Nerdist... Believe in the ONLY Absolute... Believe... In Anders...

He hands the microphone back to the ring announcer smiling.
