The scene opens with Maxwell Lord walking into the locker room. When he opens the door he sees, his brother, Alexander finishing up a interview with Josh Bernard. Maxwell is supposed to be in Alexander’s corner for his number one contender’s tournament match against The Ascension. However, later on in the night Maxwell has a match of his own, as he will compete in a champion’s gauntlet match, with the new WWG World Champion, Abram Adams. So, while Alexander is dress in his ring attire, Maxwell still has on sweat pants and on a black sleeveless t-shirt. I slight smile comes over the face of Alexander as he walks over to his brother.
ALEXANDER LORD
You made it! I didn’t know if you were going to show!
The two brothers hug as they haven’t seen each other, and it’s kind of a surprise that have seen each other at this moment.
MAXWELL LORD
Didn’t I tell I would always have your back! I mean what I say, you should know that by now.
The brothers continue to have a few words, until Josh Bernard reluctantly interrupts the two brothers.
JOSH BERNARD
Umm, I don’t mean to intrude…
MAXWELL LORD
Well then don’t!
Maxwell emphatically cuts off Josh, to the dismay of Alexander who gives his brother a look. Maxwell forces a smile upon his face and throws his hands in the air as to say, “My Bad”.
ALEXANDER LORD
Continue.
JOSH BERNARD
Well, I was wondering if I could as Max a couple of questions before his match tonight, if that’s okay?
Maxwell looks as if he doesn’t want to do it, but he doesn’t even have to look at Alexander to know that his brother wants him to do the interview. So, Maxwell brightens and offers his time.
MAXWELL LORD
Sure. I always have time for an interview.
ALEXANDER LORD
Alright cool. I’ll be back. I have to go and get another t-shirt this one is all wet.
Josh looks a little intimidated as he now will be left alone in a room with Maxwell. Maxell bids his brother farewell with a head nod and the door closes behind Alexander. Maxwell and Josh each take a seat, as the cameras are turned back on. One of the tech guys behind the camera gives Josh his queue and Josh begins the introduction.
JOSH BERNARD
Hello, ladies and gentlemen, I’m Josh Bernard. I’m joined at this time by my guest, Maxwell Lord. For those of you who don’t know, Maxwell is the brother of our WWG Absolute Champion, Alexander Lord. Now, Maxwell people have been wondering about you. Ever since you’ve returned you really have done too much for the public eye. You’ve wrestled in two matches I believe and may have back your brother up once or twice, but other than that you’ve really kept a low profile. Can you give the WWG Universe on what’s really been going on with Maxwell Lord?
The question was proposed and the face of Maxwell remained the same. Josh tries to point Maxwell in the direction of the camera, but Maxwell opens his mouth taking into the space around him.
MAXWELL LORD
Josh, to be honest, even though I been around the WWG for a while now, this is all new to me. For as long as I can remember, I never had a job. For chunk of my life, I never had a brother. Now, it’s all thrown at me at once. I couldn’t digest it all. So, I had to fall back and think about myself. For the first, I thought that I needed a purpose. So, search the net, I read books and I even went to a few seminars just trying to find something, anything. Then, started to realize something similar about everything I read and heard. It doesn’t matter if you want to be a politician. It doesn’t matter if you want to own your own business, or maybe want to race cars. Whether it’s your talk show or being a movie star, there is one motivation for everything. Everyone wants to be on TOP! I realized no matter what I picked, the ultimate goal is to be on top. Nobody wants to be average or good, the only real achieve is being great; to be the best! The question is how do I get to the top? That question has been answered many times throughout history. The way you get to the top is by Money, Power and Respect.
Josh, who is taken a bit off guard by where this interview is going want Maxwell to continue so he doesn’t interrupt when Maxwell pauses hoping that Maxwell continue to ramble. But Maxwell doesn’t reveal his plan, instead Josh is forced to ask another question.
JOSH BERNARD
I know one question that a lot our viewers want to ask is, why the paint?
A smile comes over his face as he begins to answer Josh’s question.
MAXWELL LORD
I think I can answer that in two parts. Firstly, in when I was in the army and we were at war, I wore this paint. It’s ancient tradition to wear paint when you’re going to war. I brought that practice with me here. In that ring, it’s war. War isn’t pretty, trust me! The movies don’t do it justice. Some of the things you have to do in war you can’t justify it. I can’t speak to everything that I do in that ring, so I distant myself by putting the paint. I become something else. I become someone else. It creates a mentally for me and it puts fear in my opponent. Criminal intentions are what I have in mind when I go into that ring. It’s like robbing a bank, you don’t run in unless you’re masked up. You need to hide your identity. I don’t want people to identify me the man you see here, with the monster that you will see in that ring.
Josh has a serious look on his face as just can’t get a grasp on where Maxwell is trying to take this interview. Josh proceeds as he would with any superstar and ask the next logical question.
JOSH BERNARD
Well tonight you have a chance to make a statement on your way to the top of the company, in this champion’s gauntlet match. What do you think is your biggest challenge going into your match?
Clearly, Maxwell is only half-listening to Josh Bernard. He is stilling looking off into space not paying attention to Josh or the camera. However, he comes up with another answer for Josh.
MAXWELL LORD
I’m really not concerned about the match tonight. It’s not really a match, but more of a freak show. You put a bunch of guys in the ring and you tell hey, there’s the prize and you see who can get to first. I’m not here to play those types of games no. So, all the other guys can have fun running and jumping over one another for that one piece of candy. I have bigger dreams than this. This is only the prologue to my story, this is only the beginning of my reign. I WALK ON FIRE! I’ve lived in hell. And now, I’m FREE! This is just the beginning the flames come later.
Josh looks completely off balance and Alexander walks back into the room.
